<p><i>“J’ai toujours célébré les personnes qui sont authentiques et qui n’ont pas peur d’être elles-mêmes”</i>, confie <tag type="person">Elizabeth McCafferty</tag>, journaliste et productrice britannique qui a couvert des sujets aussi insolites que les Death Cafés, un charmeur de vers de terre, une maison hantée BDSM qui tourne mal et la vente de restes humains. Rien d’étonnant, donc, à ce que son premier livre se penche sur la collection de sacs à vomi de compagnies aériennes d’un homme à la personnalité aussi hors norme que son étrange passion. <i>“Il y a quelques années, je tournais un court documentaire sur ce collectionneur, <tag type="person">Trevor</tag>, qui a créé un groupe de soutien nommé <tag type="organization">Ask Trev</tag>. Il s’agit d’une équipe composée exclusivement de personnes prénommées <tag type="person">Trevor</tag>, qui cherchent à transformer les connotations négatives parfois associées à ce prénom en lui donnant une nouvelle image.”</i> C’est au cours d’une pause déjeuner, pendant le tournage, que l’inventeur de cette <i>“Trevolution”</i> montre à McCafferty sa collection de sacs à vomi. <i>“Je n’ai tout simplement pas réussi à me l’enlever de la tête”</i>, avoue la journaliste. L’ouvrage réunit 150 spécimens couvrant une période allant des années 1980 à 2019, parfois accompagnés d’anecdotes de vol écrites de la main du collectionneur, et à travers lesquelles ressurgit un monde pré-numérique empreint d’une certaine nostalgie, jusque dans ses aspects les plus irrationnels. <i>“Certains de mes modèles préférés sont particulièrement amusants et ingénieux, comme ces sacs de la compagnie <tag type="organization">Qantas</tag> conçus avec Kodak dans les années 1980 et qui pouvaient être utilisés comme pochettes de développement photo au retour des vacances, à condition de ne pas les avoir utilisés pendant le vol aller.”</i> La suite? Encore et toujours aux frontières du réel: “<i>Je suis actuellement en train d’écrire, de produire et de réaliser un long métrage documentaire sur cette fois où l’on m’a offert des objets maudits lors d’un premier rendez-vous. Deux semaines plus tard, je me suis cassé l’épaule et ma vie a commencé à partir complètement à la dérive… Mes amis et moi avons fini par croire à la malédiction.”</i> Hâte!</p>
